We have something in common for sure, my taste in fish is every bit as eclectic as yours. I would love to see pics of your tank and fishes. What is the spoonbill? I'm not familiar with that name. being in a tropical place is problematic for sturgeon, there is a reason sturgeon are not naturally found in tropical areas. Warm water just isn't their thing. If you are lucky enough to have a shovelnose sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus platorynchus) and you maintain a high oxygen concentration they just might be long term captives for you. How big is your tank?
my tank size is 4' x 8' pvc tank...using top flow filtration systems...spoonbill as american called paddlefish...abt 7'' now...pls visit my gallery u can view all my collections...im fanatic monster fish keeper:D

For some reason I cannot call up peoples galleries:confused: It's just not fair, I live in the USA and I can't get a paddlefish, you live about as far away as you can be and you can get them:cry: Oh well, that's life I guess. If the paddlefish is doing ok then the sturgeon should as well. I collect quite a few fish here for aquariums and breed them. Some of them are very pretty, blue spotted sunfish are about as pretty as wild caught fish get! I'll keep trying on the galleries, I don't know what is wrong.

I worked for a couple years at a fish farm that has 10 white sturgeons between about 30 and 50" in length. They have them out in a public display area and allow visitors to pet them. The dolphin-like behavior is pretty normal among the sturgeons there. Sometimes while people pet them, they get excited and start showing off doing circles in the tank doing the dolphin thing. They are really cool, personable fish

Here are the fish base info on Blue spotted sunfish and red fin pickerel.
I've been breeding fish for about 30 years. The spoonbill is not a common fish in the US, very rare and protected. the one you have is part of as captive breeding program as are the sturgeons. the sturgeon and paddlefish are closely related.

Do you realize that if you had a real Chinese Paddlefish it might be the last one on Earth! But as far as I know the Chinese paddlefish was never bred in captivity and is extinct in the wild.
a lot of shovelnose sturgeon are being shipped to china so it might be a shovelnose sturgeon.

I know it's difficult to believe in this day of instant messages and digital cameras but I have never been into the whole picture taking thing and I don't have a digital camera. I need to get on the band wagon I guess and start taking some pictures. I wonder how difficult it would be to ship you some blue spots? I ship them all over North America, I had one shipment lost for two weeks and most of them came back alive. I plan on expanding a bit and maybe picking up black banded sunfish and a few other fish as well next season. Keep me up to date about your paddle fish and sturgeon.
