whats a good supplier of sturgeons in the US i can find adriatic all day long but i want other kinds and even an albino if possible we are gonna start digging a outdoor pond before this fall and i want to find some sturgeon to put in it

i know i ask about alot of things but this is the first house that we have owned so we are going all out in it

McKenzieco.com (Stacey, Michigan) farm raises Shovelnose Sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus platorynchus (to 3ft)) and Lake Sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens (to 6ft)). They have a minimum amount for ordering. I don't recall what it is, though.

I would have posted all my responses here instead of just your PMs. Now, you get to 'cut-N-paste' to fill in the blanks in the thread.

hey i started the thread about sturgeons and on the link you gave me they sell baby paddlefish do you think that i could keep one of these in a big enough pond or do they need a strong current

They don't need a strong current. However, they do require a high DO percentage. So, maximum aeration or a degassing tower would be needed.

cool they wont eat other animals will they i dont know much about paddlefish... i was hoping to have a sturgeon or two maybe a paddlefish some turtles and a couple albino bullfrogs think that this would work and oh yeah after going to that wbesite i want a golden trout or two

Paddlefish (Polyodon spathula) are primarily filter feeders and they grow to 6ft. Young ones can be trained to take floating food and krill/plankton/FD gammarus is just fine for them. They'll also start taking small fish and other animals once they hit about a foot long. Turtles are a bad idea for this pond since paddlefish are scaleless and sturgeons will just sit there until they're bitten by the turtles. Frogs will become part of the paddlefish's and sturgeon's diet. As well, the trout when they're small.

Paddlefish are VERY tough from what I have heard. You would need a lot of current to keep food aloft as they are filter feeders.

sweet i wanna a sturgeon
