Hi all!!

It has been a long time since I have had a moment to post!! Any sturgeon keepers out there?? I am in Ontario Canada and have been keeping a couple of Sturgeon for about 3 years now. Love them!! Still looking for an albino Sterlet!! I will be getting a bunch of Shortnose babies this May! Can't wait!!! I am so excited!!!!

Would love to hear from anyone keeping sturgeon!!! Anyone else out there in Canada??

Laura :)

I don't keep them though I'd love to at some point. Where did you find a source for Shortnose? That species is rare just to see! We'll definitely need some pictures once you get them in!

Yes I am getting my babies from them. I LOVE my sturgeon!! We breed Koi and varieties of goldfish. I am also working on Albino Channel cats. I am trying to acquire some old enough to try a spawn!! I will post some photos later today!!

Oh man I've got to check them out! I've wanted a shortnose sturgeon pond forever, time to start the build lol

Nice! They are endangered here in the U.S. Through work, we have been able to tag some with acoustic tags and track their movements. Fascinating fish!

Here is a link to a photo study of the group of sturgeon a few of us bought a few years ago. The one in the photos tagged "mine " is Goliath as a baby. I added a "hidden" page to my one website so I could link to them here. I hope that is okay!

If anyone has any thoughts on the identities of the different sturgeons species that would be greatly appreciated!

Nice pictures! How long have you had Goliath and what is his size? I'm not good with the id of juvenile sturgeons. Where did the others come from?
We only have Atlantic and shortnose sturgeon here. Large fish you can tell the difference by shape of the snout. With smaller ones (and possibly the ones in your photos) you can tell the difference between Atlantic and shortnose by measuring the mouth width and interorbital width. With shortnose, the mouth width divided by interorbital width will range from 63-81%. Atlantics mouth width divided by interorbital will range 43-66%.
