Hey guys I researched through the archives for awhile on this and it got me more confused on the topic. I've always had glass tanks that were rimmed so no need for styrofoam. I have 2 tanks 450 and 600. 10x4x2 and 10x3x2. both are acrylic and will be sitting on top of a homemade stand with 3/4" shop grade plywood tops. Is styrofoam the way to go under the tanks for these setups? How thick should it be. And I saw several different types listed. What is the best type to use. Thanks in advance for the help

Thanks for the advice have you tried yoga mats on a larger tank? Are they thick enough I see a lot of info recommending like 3/4" thick foam
foam when wet I feel would shrink and compress over time. a yoga mat generally stays level no matter what. I feel the material is a bit better for them

Ok great. Is there a weight or tank limit you think the yoga mats could work on? I have 2 ten foot tanks that are extremely heavy. Worth a try though I guess

I doubt it. all they are really there for is to level the tank slightly and cussing the bottom so it's not on the hard surface

The shop that buit mine recommended the padding for under laminate flooring.

Its very thin, maybe 1/8" and came in a roll. Don't know the name, its whatever hd had in the flooring department
