what would be a cheap way to subdue lighting in a tank I only have catfish and clown knives and my tank is bright with only one bulb I was thinking of lots of lunar lights but that would cost to much
any suggestions would be appreciated thank you

u suck i fell fot the alt and f4 thing

you can put window tint on a peice of acrylic and knock some light down that way, lay strips of material down to block some light, put a lower wattage bulb in, maybe a peice of cheese cloth under the light will only let part through.

Make sure the bulb doesnt get too hot though, no need for a fire:)

Yeah what rallysman suggested.
Ive used newspaper before, that worked well for me also.

I went to the local hospital and asked for overexposed xray films. They gave me half a dozen 14x22 and 18x28 films that have a few small patches of pale white. The rest of the film looks like sunglass lenses. They make the tanks look like a cloudy day.

Howdy,

Get some floating plants from you local gardening store/tree nursery (pond section). Not only do they block light, they also improve your water quality

good idea!! I work on that stuff every day and didnt even think about that. I'll have to xray a fish and go from there:)

My taxidermist is an emergency room nurse (I know...makes me nervous, too). He's going to X-ray a half dozen of my dinosaur eggs this weekend. If he finds embryos I'll keep the films in my safe. If any eggs turn up empty, I'll have additional lightshades for my lungfish tanks.

pick up a cheapo incadecent hood, throw it on a dimmer, and use party bulbs.
