I've heard of these but never seen them, and was told recently some people use them to enhance aro's colour.

I've tried to search within the UK for submersible lights but found nothing.

Does anyone have any pics or info of where to buy them?

Cheers,
JR

I have never seen anything like that or heard of anything like that. I did have a customer once who filled the tank with see through marbles so the light would be able to penetrate them and stuck the light UNDER the tank.

Howdy,

I've heard of them, but I don't see the point. I actually think it confuses and unnecessarily stresses the fish. The sun shines from above!

You can buy little cityes with lights for your tank or small spotlights that go in your tank. I have seen on Ebay all kinds of stuff like this. Why would you want it are need it for your fish?

Ive seen them in Petcos an such, but I think itd confuse or even hurt a fishes eyes. As most ive seen are just glorified Laserpointers, there are some that use LEDs but thatd confuse some fish to thinking theres food down where the light is Eminating from.

I'm talking about more of a professional light, like a simple dim light underwater, swimming pool style.

I actually find the standard strip lights way too bright. I partially cover my lights in tin foil, the fish seem to prefer it dimmer.

But I'm interested in underwater lights.

Try the pond section at stores like Lowe"s. 4 small spot type lights for under $20. They are only about 1" across and you can get different strength bulbs or put them on a dimmer circuit. You can also tint them. I think that they would look great in large tanks used to highlight rockwork or driftwood.

I have always wanted to leave a small area clear of gocks so you can see the glass on the bottom, then put a blue light underneath. just have not done it yet!

I think your referring to nan lights. I have a 18" fixture that can be placed on top of tank or submersed in water. I gives off a pinkish hue that brings out the "red" color in certain fishes, esp. red aros
