Submersible Aquarium Heater

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So are you guys saying that I can put my heater anywhere in the tank and the heat will be distributed?

make sure you put the heater at an angle or it will just heat the water,it will rise straight up and turn it self off .at an angle the heat is spread and mixes by convection currents:)

fishgonewild; what's an HOB?

fraserking, mine is in a plastic case and it's resting on it's side. Should I stick it vertically to the aquarium's side?

I put my heaters right next to the HOB intake strainer. My theory is that the heaters warm the water and the HOB disperse the warm water.

That's what I do.

The directions of visitherm stealths say you should put it in an area that will have constant water flow.

JEAE21 - HOB = Hang on back filter.

Convection (warm water rising from the heater) will create a soft current of its own, so you can place it anywhere in the tank and it will eventually heat all the water. IMHO, it does work better/faster/heat more evenly when it is in or around a fast moving current (like in front of a powerhead).

:iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree: lower will work better as the warm water rises for convection

.

So is Drsfostersmith kinda stupid when they told me that I can't put my heater in-front of the heater?

And which way should I put it in? What did that guy mean when he said at an angle?
