I was just wondering if anyone has any practical experience with different power head brands and flow rates. I have an eight foot long tank that up until today had two SEIO Super Flow Pump M1100. Problem is one started making a terrible noise and when I investigated it appears to have a broken impaler shaft. I priced out a replacement for it and it costs half the price of a new one.:irked: So i was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Tunze brand or any others so that I could maybe just go with one power head instead of two and still not have any dead spots. Maybe if one of the stingray guys could offer some input as to what they use that would be good. I have somewhat little fishes in there that will not stay that way for long, such as Tigrinus and others. I just want nice even flow, not a torrent. Also energy efficiency would be a consideration as this will be running 24/7. Price is not really a deterrent unless it's ridiculously expensive and not justifiable for what I need. I want to do this right and only once so any input would be appreciated.

In a 8' tank, I would recommend two powerhead to ensure that the water is moving efficiently.

(Chernobyl is the only thing that comes to mind when I saw your screen name.)

If you went for four of them, you could use the cheap walmart "AquaTech" powerheads... 179 gph.

koralia #4 is the ways to go....

No it's not. I tried it on your advise and was sorely disapointed. For an 8 foot tank, I would probably need 8. They totaly suck in my just tried it for two days returning it tomorrow experience. Any other suggestions?

I just want a power head that will keep my Tigrinus happy and will move fish poop to the otherside of the tank where the intake is. This is not a saltwater setup. Just a 300 with a Spotted Gar, a Florida Gar, a 20'' Tiretrack Eel, 2 full grown Stripped Raphaels, 2 4-5'' Indian Tiger Datnoids, 6 four inch and under Clown Loaches, and a fullgrown Blue eyed Panaque. There is only plans for three more fish. Two Stingrays or some type or an other and an Asian Arowana. I need some proper flow. The SEIO 1100's weren't enough and the Koraelia #4 were even worse. Anyone have any experience with Tunze?:irked:
