How many pounds of sand would be enough to substrate a 125g??

Well, I’m hoping 100lbs will be enough for a thin layer for a 6’ x 18” foot print.
I guess it will also depend how deep you want yours. I don’t want mine too deep.

id say around 80-100 pounds unless u want a real thick layer 120-140

More like the other way around. Shes laid back for a butti, but theres no fear of her getting nipped at. Not sure if youve owned one or not, they are lightning fast if they need to be. Like compareable to mbuna, just bigger.

Depends on how deep. I have about 75-80 in my 48x18 75g. That gives me a 2.3-3.5” deep bed. In a 125 I’m going to vote 150lbs of sand if you want a 2-3” bed. I like mine that deep because my fish digs and i hate seeing the bottom glass

Sand density will vary by type, but 105 pounds isn't a bad estimate for a 6' x 18" tank.

I did have one and they are stunning. How available are they these days? Prolly have to mail order it I suppose.
