Yeah so I just added a huge piece of wood to my tank. I designed the wood to be like a hand-thats-about to-grab-something kind of thing where my polys can go in and chill where the gar couldnt reach them and also away from light. The tank contains my 10" lapradei, 9" and 7" sens, my 16" florida gar and an 11" common pleco. My problem is that as soon as I dropped the wood in, the pleco claimed the entire space underneath the wood which was for my polys. He was showing some aggression chasing my polys as soon as they came near. And others have also told me that plecos suck on the slime coat of my polys so I made the decision to remove him from the tank. He's now in my other tank with my big flowerhorn (where I think he will be bullied but am not worried cause he's got armor). Now for my question. Lol. Do you guys know of any other substrate cleaner or algae eater that would suck on my wood and eat leftovers, doesnt make looooooong strands of sh*t, nor makes more mess than my main fish, wont be eaten by my fish, doesnt claim everything to himself, and would look good in my tank. Lol sorry if Im asking too much just some ideas. It doesnt have to be perfect anything that would clean and survive is good lol. If not then I think Id just get another pleco (small enough not to claim territories but big enough to survive).

Sounds like only you will be the best person for the job... any pleco will just poop like mad, and others may not clean quite as well...

Geos? They're sand sifters, not too aggressive but can hold their own, and some species are absolutely stunning.

Good idea. I'll try to look for some. But as I've read theyre slow growers. Dont think they'd last long with my predator tank. Kinda offsets the theme too. But then again, theyre really cool fish!

Ghost shrimps, easy to breed, easy to replace. What's more they can be poly food in advance. Or Geos, I found in cartimar again that's in sub-adult stage, P400 each I think dunno might be more, near pet smart.

Ghost shrimp require brackish water for the shrimplets to survive more than a day or 2.

I use melania snails..they bury in substrate themselves during the day,at night they come to surface and eat leftovers :)

It doesn't mean that you'll dump all the shrimp and leave them be as food in there wouldn't you? As I said, there is a word, "replace", it would be a given thinig that some will be eaten by the polys, and as for breeding, you wouldn't expect to breed anything in a predator's tank unscathed unless you're a cichlid. :p
