Substrate cleaning Pbass

Gravel vac.
Only sure way to Do it right.
It is a lot of work. I hear you. So I do understand the tiling or bare bottom.
My tank is in the living room but it’s not that big.
My bass also like to move the plants and gravel around. They appear a bit unhappy without some plants.

Why would it be more work? On a bare bottom there will be leftovers etc on the bottom as well i assume. And you will have to clean that as well.
I don't like the looks of a bare bottom tank at all so i've never tried it but you'll have to clean the bottom as well, or not?

I agree. I don't prefer bare bottom but some people have huge tanks. Cleaning around rocks and plants takes some time.
I admire the large tanks and lots of bass. My bass are relatively small. If I had 2 foot bass I doubt I would have substrate.

I can imagine it’s difficult to work around rocks and wood, my tank with bass is fully scaped but thanks to the filter outlet the dirt is all ending in the same corner. And most of it will be eaten by the platydoras. My bass are only 1 foot, no experience with 2 feet giants ;-)

With the bare bottom tank you can put Powerheads right next to the bottom to keep the debris away. It is extremely low maintenance. With sand and even gravel large power heads may blow it around. I really like geos and had considered getting some but at this point the bass are to big I’d have to find a group of 10”+ geos.
