I was just wondering what kind of substrate is red (e.g)??
they have this sand called red quartz. its quite popular in asia. i've seen it in pics, but i don't know what shades of red it is (hard for me to just visualize it right now), and i'm not sure what brand it is either.

I prefer white sand. Black looks awesome, but is too expensive

I've got 60lbs of Dekoline [Nevada + Orange mixed] in my 75 and it looks pretty nice. I also really like the contrast it has with my aquarium setting as well, regardless to the fish. My African wood is really distinctive in the tank since I changed to that. I'm in need of finding more red/orange substrate, though, as we get ours through Hawaiian Marine - who has quit importing and carrying Dekoline. I loaded up on it when they were blowing it out on clearance, but there's no way I would ever pay for the stuff at it's regular retail price. I recently got my 300gal tank, and am needing another 120-200lb of red/orange gravel so I can get that covered as well. I'm really interested in hearing who makes the Red Quartz. I know there are some red blends available from 3M (Color Quartz I believe?).

Hello,

i used a nearly white substrate for my delhezis in the past - in consequence they also had a very light colour and used to led a hidden life, although there were a enormous planting in the tank.
After i moved them in a tank with black substrate they were highly active in all areas of the tank, also often near the surface. The coloration changed in a really dark grey with phosphor-green spots and the characteristic deep-black stripes after only three days! They grew from 18cm to 22cm in a period of four weeks!

I think, a dark substrate is the best!

Greeetings
