Figured this would be interesting since substrate is always highly discussed. Last week i painted the bottom of a 75 gal colonial red.
The long term goal of this tank is to keep some of the smaller upper jaws and heterospilus in while moving the bigger guys to the 300 gal once its set up. Figure we can compare what they look like on a red bare bottom tank to red garnet sand (when it arrives) then remove the garnet sand and add some black sand on say half the tank while the other half would be bare bottom/red.
Gonna also keep the Bv In the 75 to see how the different substrates affect him.
