Substrate experiment

Im gonna do the whole experiment thing just to do it but im really looking forward to adding the black sand. Im gonna try and make an island with it in the middle back part of the tank
My sand is an hour glass, I happen to be about a week late, bull dozing it, as it slowly dunes. I was kind of hoping the algae will grab on. Giving it a mowed lawn look.
I saw someone do something similar with moss and hobby netting (i forgot what its called)
It looked amazing but for me it turned into a nighare...epic failure
I tried the moss wall growing on plastic canvas. My Cichlids destroyed it in a week. Pulling it apart. Then it jammed up in the overflow.
Me either... might work on finishing it tonight
Gonna let the dw soak over night. Hopefully i'll get the filter up and running and fish moved in tomorrow night
