So is it illegal to catch in the wild but not buying it in the lfs?

If it's illegal to catch in the wild in that state, typically the item is on the restricted/banned list and the LFS/supplier in that state shouldn't be selling it. As for the case of importing from vendors in other states, no idea.

that is a crazy difference man I need decent lights.....

Florida does not want people going nuts and over fishing their waters for local species to sell into the trades. Lotsa states have laws about keeping caught species or driftwood or stone collection. If they didn't people would strip local streams and lakes for profit.
To collect driftwood here it has to be loose. Not stuck in the mud no plants grown onto or around it nothing living in it.... Is why I go right after the thaws or when water levels are way down.

Order online, lolz

Found some sand I liked. River of Doubt Caribsea 50# for $50. Was inspired by Burbotman Burbotman 's substrate. :) Shipping was an additional $35 though....I'm still debating. Would just buy black and white sand and mix it together, but I have a feeling it would look weird if I did that....and potentially be $60. I'm gonna look on the DIY forum for some stuff. Planning on scrapping the substrate(replacing with I guess either white or black sand), making a heater guard, before Benny(the Orante) goes back in the main tank.

Anybody tried mixing black and white Supra naturals sand?

Barton garnet sand
How light can change your substrate
Left: normal aquarium light
Right: LED full spec

sand looks good both ways, but like how the Light makes it look a nice reddish purple.

Binge Binge , you are definitely right. Want everyone to be able to enjoy all the flora and fauna for generations to come. :) Although it would be cool to see a bunch of clown knives or other oddball freshwater just in a pond/lake somewhere. Zilch Zilch , where was this lake lol?

Tell me about it, it was J jaws7777 and Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 that told me to try it in the new light and see the difference, and it did came out from brown/orange to pink/red/purple color.

I actually re did the 75 gal with a mix of black and some of the older sand that was replaced by the garnet... the old sand wasnt white but looks like it after mixing it in with the black. I'll post a pic for you
