I actually re did the 75 gal with a mix of black and some of the older sand that was replaced by the garnet... the old sand wasnt white but looks like it after mixing it in with the black. I'll post a pic for you

thanks I checked the other forums on MFK and saw someone did PFS with black sand. nly one person posted pics and It looked okay. IIt was more white than black though. But since cost is a factor for me, will keep that in mind. I'd love to see it! thanks

I have try white and black mix, didnt really like it, probably cause the black i used was crystal black and white didnt really showed.

hmm, good to know. Just want to get some sand in there. And I know if I get white, it will wash him out. Maybe I'll have to go black after all. Or continue the quest for garnet at a store near me haha.

Black diamond blasting sand medium grain from tractor supply is cheap as heck just wash it well before use.. Think it was like $8 for a 20 or 50 pound bag been a year or so now so not sure. Like jaws said looks awesome on my upper jaws... I do not have any lower jaws to compare tho

Should give you an idea of what the mix your considering will look like. I just wanted to add enough sand to cover up the bare area of the tank and had the otber stuff so figure what the heck

Lfs dont carry garnet sand, try looking for store that rent or sell sand blasting stuff.

I forgot to tell you that i contacted barton directly and lisa was able to find some stores in baltimore that carry it. Called today and they only have white for 17$ a bag, they'll have a price on the red garnet on monday
