Hey just some more input, I know you put the fish in already, but my convicts LOVE the sand. And they only seem to love it when breeding. Their last spawn the female dug a cave big enough for her to disappear in under the ornament that she laid her eggs on. As soon as they were free swimming she made a point to keep all her babies in or at the mouth of her cave. She pays more attention to the sand than the few africans that I have in there!

they like sand from my experience.
they will push it around and blow in it to make holes for their fry. food will collect in the hole and the parent will hover over it as the fry feed.

sounds good, I can always add some sand once these hatch because I'm in the process of setting up a 10gallon to grow the fry out a little.
Just got home and checked on the eggs, it appears about 20 or so are white and the rest are a tan color. White are not fertilized correct? Because these are kind of sporadic through out the bunch.
Eggs started hatching a few hours ago!! haha, i feel like a school girl with this being the first batch of fry i've ever seen.. There's a bunch of wiggling eggs that they are taking care of!!
