substrate help

i have gravel from homedepot but it is a bit jagged and i want to get a ray
so i was thinking pool filter sand so my q's are
1. how many bags for a 125
2. what are the cons
3. can i use undergravel w/ powerheads
4. how do i clean the sand

i used 2x50lb bags pool filter sand in my 240g,its thin but i like it
and in my diy thread is a thread on how to clean pool filter sand with pix

Does Pool filter sand come in different colors?

it goes in a filter,no need for color lol

i use sand in all but one of my tanks. works wonderful. if you use a python like most of us, in a sink put a small bucket or pot under it and it will catch all the sand that the python sucks up. 1 it saves you a cloged sink,2 it saves your sand as you can clean it and put it back in the tank

pool fiter sand is not good for rays it will irratate there under side

i got black sand... and ever since my filter has been somewhat loud and i think it is because of little bits of sand getting in
then again i dont have a hang-on-back filter
it also depends on the size of the bags of sand

should i use play sand then and wash it really good i cant afford the aquarium sand

i mean if pfs is bad for rays what else is there
