Who's being smart? I was just asking a question. If it's a new bag of pool filter sand from a pool supply store, could it have chlorine on it already?

Well obviously you don't want chlorine on your sand, but when i first was going to use sand as my substrate, I went to the pool store and asked for "pool filter sand" It was very jacked and made of like quartz silica and he asked what i was using it for so i told him for my tank, he said its not good because the sand has been known to have chlorine in it and the sand cause cancer or something. I'm giving you a heads up man.

at the back of the bag it states the following:
CONTENTS Specialised sand 100%.
Note: Ingredients may contain respirable Crystalline Silica.
Specialised Sand will usually contain <1% respirable Crystalline Silica.

RISK Specialised Sand may cause respiratory, skin and eye irritation.
- Repeated inhalation of dust containing crystalline silica may cause bronchitis silicosi (scarring of the lungs).

Is this normal to be on pool filter sand bags? Please advise! =) sorry to hi-jack thread...

hey guys sorry to be a pain - but does the 'pool filter sand' you guys use - have 'crystalline silica'? or is this the chlorine in the sand you are referring to? just want to make sure i have the right stuff before using it..
