hardware store--get tubing or PVC the same diameter as your current uptakes. If the diameter is at least 1/2", you can find black PVC for better esthetics...or paint the white PVC

I'm sold on poop sucker pipes and wouldn't have a tank without them. Mechanical plumbing will be the only decoration in my bare floor undecorated tank.

When I turned the air on to my canister bio-filter yesterday a cloud of sediment came out and settled on the bottom. When I put the wave makers in today and turned them on it stired up all the sediment and the HOB filter quickly filtered it out. The plants in the middle laid over when the wave makers were on, but they stood back up when off. I scattered the round river rocks on the bottom. I am not sure if I will be able to keep them all in. I will see when the tilapia are in there. Live testing begins tomorrow evening. 2019-09-09 20.12.38.jpg

Some people here have tiles at the bottom of their tank, is that something that you might be interested in? If you attach them to the bottom with some type of bonding substance (I'm not well versed in this area) then it will be just like bare bottom except it will look nicer. If you just let them sit on the bottom then there may be a build up of detritus under them according to a few accounts here.

Much easier to clean up and is easy on the sensitive fins of bottom-dwelling fish. The down side is that there isn't as much room for beneficial bacteria and it doesn't look as good.

Even if you adhere them to the bottom?

Hummmm... I may have to experiment on an old 10g tank. I could buy Aquarium safe mortar and cover the bottom with pebbles and fill in the crack with mortar. It would look like the bottom of a stream.... well kinda
