Estes makes a product called permacolor quartz, its silica sand for pool filters. Grain size is fine, medium and trowel. Here's their standard color chart which includes a few shades of red.

I'm not sure what size tank its for, they come in 50 lb bags for $22-24 per bag. You can contact the company directly and ask for a local distributer to save on shipping. Hope this helps

Well last night I painted my tank and removed the sand ... I bought what I thought was a orange red color like (scarlet) I was so wrong .... Woke up this morning after the paint dried and my tank is hot pink 😳 ...I'm not a happy camper .... My endi change colors tho got a lot lighter grey and black stripes are standing out but my lap is still the exact same color as it was b4 :( dull and pretty much patternless

Just curious, does paint need to dry or "cure" for a period of time before filling up a tank or adding fish?
