can live rock(consisting of only coralline algae) be crushed and used as a substrate?

Why would you bother, when you can just use sand?

i dont get sea sand (LS) here,i just use coral sand but wanted to know if this can be used as well.

You can just buy playsand from Home Depot & seed it with a handful of live sand or just from live rock. Be sure though to rinse, rinse, rinse & then add filter floss to clear up the rest of the cloudiness in the tank, after you fill it.

You'd be better off buying live sand, or dry sand for marine tanks (aragonite based) and seeding it with a little bit of live sand. Crushing live rock into sand will be expensive and labor intensive for the amount of sand you will get.
