I visit family in the mid atlantic quite a bit for some deep sea fishing... is it safe to use beach sand or sand from small island beaches in a sw fish tank??

I wouldn't you never know what is in the sand...parasites, pollutants all kinds of nastyness could be in there

nope. If human's have been there it's likely contaminated with something you don't want in your tank. The risk is to much to be worth it.

too many harmful product's and bi-product's in the sand not worth the risk.

You can just buy a bag of pool filter sand. That's what I use I got a 50lb back for $15 and it looks nice.

yeah i dont have a problem buying it but i was figuring if it was cleaned enough then maybe the natural coral sand would be more beneifial....

you can buy good sand at your LFS for like $25.00 for a 40lb bag

i have a buddy that has used flordia beach sand with no problems but i wouldnt chance it

you can, if you do i would wash it and let it dry out for a couple days. no it wont really be benefical. and there are risks as mentioned above.
