Never got a chance to give the OP his congrats. I've dealt with a really stubborn spotted before and it's a great feeling to accomplish.

Many reasons... it eliminates the need to quarantine, feed and buy live fish regularly. It makes your fish more hospitable towards other fish (sometimes). It eliminates the chance of parasites from a bad minnow. Storing frozen food and pellets is cheaper and easier plus it's often healthier for your fish as long as they are getting a balanced diet.

It's just a good direction to take any fish in my opinion.

by the way guys i bought hikari massavoir pellets and mixed a couple with the krill in a small cup of warm water, my gar ignored the krill and went straight for the pellets! its main diet will now be pellets and krill.
