im currently starving my dats onto pellets, well was feeding my black piranha freeze dried shrimp and i dropped one into the dat tank. and my biggest dat took it!!! all the other dats seem somewhat nervous about the fd shrimp, maybe because its floating? all the other dats will swim up about .5" away from the fd shrimp then stop and turn around. while the dat that is taking the fd shrimp is so fat on the stuff, he cant get enough. im thinkin about settling for fd shrimp instead of pellets. b/c i want to put the dats with my clown loaches but i no that if i cant get the dats off frozen brine shrimp, the dats wont have a chance to eat the frozen brine shrimp since the cl will get to it first. so best chance of the dats getting any food with the clowns are if they are on pellets or fd shrimp.

you can use the freeze dried shrimp to get the dats accustom to floating foods like pellets. just keep feeding the FD shrimp until more are accepting of it, then add some pellets with the shrimp then eventually cut the shrimp completely.

it can take a while, give it a couple of weeks and I am sure the others will catch on that it is food. It is really a waiting game but it will pay off, all of my dats eat pellets now thanks to that method.
same prob i have to show the dat the food then he eats in front of the oscar so i feel confident for him!!

I currently have 5 out of my 6 ITs eating carnivore, my 3 NTTs still dont take it. If you keep feeding one thing eventually they will have to eat it. Its a waiting game.
so dam close!!! just putted in one hikari cichlid gold floatin pellet, one small dat came up and peck/bit at the pellet. then that was it, no more action.
