Well, I was feeding the bluegill, freddie, and bichir frozen bloodworms and freeze dried krill, and one of the gars ate an entire cube of bloodworms, and another ate a piece of krill in addition to the shrimp!

The cool thing is the one that ate the shrimp and the krill, is one of the ones I'd already decided I was keeping for sure. :D

when you guys put in frozen bloodworm cubes in, do u defrost it seperately fully? or just throw the frozen cube in?

(sorry to hijack your thread)

I defrost completely in a separate container, then dump into the tank.

I just dump the cubes in. Usually the fish pick at them as they come apart in the tank. Although yesterday one of the gar did eat a whole, mostly still frozen cube. He mouthed it for a while, but eventually swallowed it. I figured it must have been cold going down...

I used to defrost all my frozen foods in another container (with tank water), then add it, but now I just toss it in and let them pick at it...
