Successful Way of keeping Dats

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my IT has always been in a lightly planted tank with driftwood. always had a good number of tank mates, nothing too aggressive. the only time i noticed him a little less stable was with 3 other dats and they chased each other alot. he wasn't the smallest but not the larges dat in the group. plenty of hiding places.

WC 30-50% a week
fed FD krill and shrimp, bloodworms, various pellets
temp 80
pH - 6.5
lights - in my 55g i had 110watts PC lights and on my 125g i have 82watts t5. the 125g is a lot dimmer lights. i didn't see light making a difference in stability or it being outgoing. i keep the lights on about 10hrs a day
substrate - natural sand in the 55g and black and natural mix in the 125g.

he's pretty much stable 95% of the time. very outgoing like a cichlid.
