I hate having to clean algy off the glass of cichlid tanks, with most types of fish you can just add a plecko or a flying fox and never worry about it again. So have any of you guys had any success with keeping a sucker fish of some kind with africans? If so, which?

wow if you are calling them sucker fish we have a lot to talk about...

I like the bristlenoise plecos for african tanks. Everyone has their own opinion. Look up plecos in the search for the african section we have a few threads on it. It may save you time on waiting for others to respond. I hope I have helped a bit

Alright then

yup. i have 2 bushy/bristlenoses in my malawi tank.
they do an okay job.

I have bn plecos in a few of my mbuna tanks, with no problems.I know a few people that had the mbuna rip out the plecos eyes but it hasnt happened to mine.

I have one common pleco no probs. and hes the big boy of the tank him and my red emp.

I've had my common Pleco for almost a year now, he's at around 7" and he's always done a pretty good clean up job with the tank. He sucks up any leftover food and cleans the tank walls if he's bored. I'd definitely recommend getting one.

yeah mine gives out really long poops lol... mine is anbout 5 inchs now but when i get my house next year he will go into the pond since he gets about what 24" ??

I ended up taking one of my gold nuget pleckos into the tank. He seems to be doing fine, hides all day.. but I don't think he can keep up with the algy, may need to add a larger one.
