sucker fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah no the only other one I have is way too big for the tank, he would eat all the algy quickly... or ignor the algy and go for the fish if you know what I mean.

Get your head out of your lazy ass and clean your tank.....

If ten minutes a day is "to much work" find a new hobby. No fish is a "tank cleaner" they can help, but no sure fire answer. A little regular maintenace does wonders. How long do you run your lights? Any natural sources close to the tank that can be a reason for algae?

I just made this post because I wanted to ask before I trying to add a fish that was used to softer water into african cichlid tank. Most people say pleckos don't do well in hard water... And seriously there are many types of what people consider "cleaner fish" both in fresh water and salt water. you're dead wrong on that one.
And there are plenty of different kinds of sucker mouthed fish that do an exelent job at keeping glass clean... generally you have to feed them a little bit extra because they run out of algy to eat.

If you spend seven hours a week doing water changes the last thing you want to do is reach into your tall tank and start looking for patches of algy. Especaily when you know there are fish that eat it as food... Most people keep them for that exact purpose. When I said get your head out of your ass what I ment was... stop being such a stuck up bastard. LOL there happen to be other ways of doing things.

my plec is about 5 inches and hes cleaning algea less and less every day soon im gunna have to start useing my algea scrubber.. this goes to show u that at any size plecs can find algea less tasty everyday and go for food/algea pellet.. so dont trust algea eaters all the time ( mines a common tho to )

lmao i dont even know whats going on in here but plecos or any other kind of "sucker fish" are not going to clean your tank, scrub it. its not that bad i have to clean like 25 tanks a day sometimes at work.

But in all seriousness bro, a healthy stable aquarium really shouldnt have any algae. If your having a big problem cut the lights back, or block out the window during the day.

telling someone to get their head out of their ass is disgusting especially when your the one whos too lazy to scrub your own damn tanks. Noone says you have to keep a fish tank.

and if your spending 7 hours a week cleaning tanks, and thats a problem, maybe you should cut back. if you cant take the heat stay outta the kitchen.

Happy to help :D

My big pleck just goes after fish lol, but you know their really are a lot of different types of algy cleaning fish. Flying fox sharks are great, they can get at that nasty black algy that you can't scrub off with a knife.

Anyways yeah I was about to go back and edit that post, I was just a bit pissed off, I hate it when people are condecending.
