Suction cups for moving tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Might work. I'd just hate to be around if one end slips. I've been lucky in that I can move 240 glass tanks by myself. It's not fun but, I've had to grunt-work all my tanks by myself.

thats what i was gonna say. Even though it can hold 440 pounds. i wouldn't trust my tank with it. just get a couple of buddies around

I was trying to find something like that when I was moving my 180. The only concern I would have would be whether they could take the weight. I would definitely read the manufacturers specs if I was going to use them.

Dude, you have to show pictures of yourself; you must be a bloody truck!!

Yeah I dont see myself picking up that tank alone. When I got this tank from glasscages we moved it out of the moving truck into my truck with 4 of the 8" round suction cups. The reason I kinda needs these cups is because trying to set the tank down into my stand would be near impossible without getting your fingers caught because there is only a 1/4" of room around the edge of the tank and there is nothing to lift up on the tank besides the bottom.

I'm not as young as I used to be (who is?). But, after 35+ years of digging dinosaur bones and fossils and climbing rocks/cliffs to get to the fossils, my 6'4" 245lb frame can handle a fair amount of weight. I recently had to manage a 534lb emergency generator into and out of my pickup bed and onto it's pad. I was wheezing for awhile but, I got it done by myself. Last month, I had to unload, uncrate, and lift up onto their stands 2 tanks. One is a 360 and the other is a 275. Took me a couple of hours to wrestle both up the steps and through the fishroom. Roughly 741 swear words later, the tanks were in place and I was wheezing like a steam engine. I was able to get the job done but, I would have paid real duckets for another set of hands helping with those weights.

What do you think of this for lifting and moving a tank around? I have a 240 long, guessing its around 350 empty right now.

I would imagine two of these would work pretty well, one on each end just to get it up and onto the stand.

Those work well for moving tanks. I didn't get mine off ebay, but I have 4 of them just like those. Used them to move a 240gal. into the house, and up on the stand. I also got the idea from glasscages when I went to pick up the tank. Don't worry, when locked down, they ain't gonna slip! In fact, they are easier to lock on than remove.

Awesome! Where did you get them from? Also I am trying to find out the dimensions of the unit cause I have other uses for them after I am done with them for the tank?
