Sudden AUL Death Syndrome

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it is one of the most irritating things that can happen in the hobby. 80% of the time there is an external factor to which we may have contributed. You checked it all out.

It falls in the unexplainable 20%, admitting that the hypothesis that it was stuck and not able to breathe is non hypothesis.

There are no rocks or driftwood in the tank. I kept it bare as possible since I had to temporarily place him in a small 300gal until the new fish building is completed and I can then put him back into the 900gal.

Sorry for this difficult loss :-[

It might be untraceable natural causes. "Natural" sudden death even happens with children.
no doubt a beast can just up and die too. we are so accustomed to finding tangible reasons, it's awful hard when we don't.

I'm stunned to have read this. Just a guess, but he might have gotten spooked from the gars and run into the glass sustaining head injuries.

Your lung was one of the inspirations I got into AUL. I remember back when you guys got them in - exciting times. Just terrible loss.

Is it possible he drown? My buddy had one 28-30" and claimed thats how his died. Any way to determine that from ur autopsy. Sorry for ur loss...it happens to the best of us. I always blame myself but i know ur one of the best keepers in the hobby so thats not the case :)
