I mean...its obvious...
And who says its not a show fish? Who can say no to those googley eyes?

nobody? gars man
florida/spotted,tropical,cuban,or shortnose(i think these will, cant remember max captive size) will all work
no gator, or longnose, but the rest will work

Are you all missing something or am I? He said a 2.5ft tank, None of the fish suggested would work at all.... Very cruel if you did.

No he said the fish itself must mot exceed 2.5 ft, gar availability is very limited over here, floridas and gator are the only 2 available and I have still never seen a gator in the flesh and have only ever seen floridas in the flesh in 2 different shops (though yes they are a brilliant fish and i love mine dearly).

How big is the tank then?

i have looked at all the suggestions so far , big thanks,,

as i just want the one fish and a bit of personality i have chosen down to 3

either
1 oscar
2 jardini
3 jaguar

i requested a fish that dont get bigger than 2.5 ft ,,

if the fish is a baby 3 inch then it will be in a small tank ,,
if its 1 ft then it will be in a medium sized tank
if its 2.5 ft then whats the point in me buying a fish that is nearly dead :nilly::nilly::nilly:

i have a 4x2x2 spare and cycled at the mo and a 7x3x2 stacked away if i get adventurous ,

i am running a 5x3x3 at the moment ,

i hope to do something extra huge one day ,,which is why i hold off from filling the 7ft'er for now

i may not have a monster of a tank like most on here but give me some credit and dont insult me by asking me the size of my tank

depending on the arowana it will outgrow 2.5'
oscars are nice, but not really show fish.
look into jaguars, doviis, maybe some arowana like jardini, leichardti, or asian

i have looked into the jardini (i always read up before a purchase for those that get concerned) and i was not aware of the size difference of silver arowana and jardini ,, i learn more from this forum . ;),

jardini does seem kinda cool and an ideal candidate for a 'one fish' set up

some personality and a bit of muscle thrown in lol
