Bullheads sound cool. They do get over a foot, but other fish should still leave 'em alone. Thier pectorals and dorsal fins are dangerous!

well after reading this : http://www.scotcat.com/articles/article78.htm (chick is WORDY btw, despite her spelling mistakes), I kinda want a Hemibagrus (formally Mystus) wyckii... but then it'd need it's own tank...
Good suggestions so far. I like those gulpers a lot, but I don't think my tank mates are suitable:

Clown Loaches (small right now, like 3")
Albno Oscar
couple blue acara
couple plecs (11", 6")
silver aro
The clowns would be gone pretty fast if I got a gulper. I like the black bullheads.. that's the look I want, with the front facing mouth, and large barbells. plus I like black fish. That jaguar catfish looks really cool too, but 6" (while me may be fine) is a bit disappointing for full size.

They may clean up uneaten food, but they are another fish in the tank, and they do make their own mess - for a lot of catfish, that mess is quite ocnsiderable. Don't buy a fish to do the fishkeeping for you, cuz it won't work!
