I'm planning on adding a couple of plecos to my oddball tank (once I upgrade). For coloration I'd prefer them to have orange or red on the fins. I really like the L091 but from what I've read they spend 99% of the time hiding. Is there another pleco that is not quite so shy? I'd like to have two but can do one if they are territorial. Would prefer them to stay in the 10-16" range.

Tankmates would be various catfish, red wolf fish and a fire eel. Tank size would be 150g+.

Whatever you get make sure they are big at least 6 to 8 inches. My L91s stay pretty well hidden and they are big like 8-9 inches now my L90s are pretty active and will chase off other fish.

That's why I'm leaning away from the L91's. They look great and would match my tank well but I'm not sinking that kind of money into a fish that I can't enjoy.

Hello.. lol :D

For colouration, I would suggest an L014 Sunshine / Goldie, but good luck finding one fully grown - My 8" is the only one I have ever seen in person. However they may be more common in the States...

Failing that, how about an L330 Watermelon / Royal - Not Orange, but one of my personal favourites... I have a 12" male and he is out all the time & fairly active.

id say L330 watermelon also one of my favourites. probably a bit easier to get.

I need to try my hand with a cheaper pleco first (not a common one). I got a gold nugget a while back from the LFS and it died within 48 hours. I don't think it was anything I did but I do not want to risk a $150+ purchase on a pleco without being familiar with them.
