Suggestions for 125g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have mine with an electric blue acara. I guess it's possible your blue acaras could eat small juvenile Columbian tetras, but I don't think there'd be any territorial aggression. If you're not into the tetras, that's cool. I just really enjoy mine.

I'm not really worried about the water cow moving or not. I have owned them before and I like them. I also know it can hold its own with all these other fish I have currently. My previous water cow lived with 15 geos.

I'm really not against the Colombian tetra idea I just had more questions about it because I genuinely wasn't sure if they'd be alright with blue acaras. My jewel cichlids are really timid, and like I said, generally submissive to the acaras. I think this couldwork with a decent sized school of Colombian tetras.

It would definitely help fill out your midwater and add some movement to the tank. You could also check out bleeding heart tetras, diamond tetras and Congo tetras. They are all really eye catching as adults.

I'm keeping an Eleotris with about a dozen Andinacara coeleopunctaus (Panamanian Acaras), in a 180 bow front, the tank also has a couple Roeboides tetras, and a Panamanian Plecostmus at the moment.
It is an interesting tank,, but I believe sooner or later the sleeper will begin eating all the others.
The cichlids and tetras are pretty much full grown at 5", but the goby is only half grown at 10", and has put on at least 2" since added 6 months ago, being fed only every other day.

Although the cichlids and tetras are almost always visible, the sleeper only shows itself when hungry (once every other day, otherwise it hides in a hole it dug in the substrate under a log)

I recently got a baby datnoid, and they have AMAZING personalities they can live in a 125 for a couple years then may have to get an upgrade but there awesome. Mine doesn’t eat pellets only live??

I'd add two more chalceus to spread around aggression to make sure no one's getting picked on too badly.
I definitely want more chalceus. I had six at one point but lost one to ick, one to jumping out of the tank, and one to getting beat up by jewel cichlids. Which is kind of funny in hind sight because when I added those jewel cichlids they ran the tank but now they hide under a log if so much as a chalceus moves too suddenly.

I'm not too familar with the difference between Eleotris vs. water cow if there even is any. I don't know the scientific name of the water cow that I owned in the past but he never exceded 10in and I don't think they even can but I could be wrong.

I love dats but I've seen how big they get and I think I'd have trouble selling something like that in my area because I'm not exactly located in a major city.
