Suggestions for a 45 gal?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmm hows about a queen arabesque plec, a shoal of threadfin rainbowfish and some assasain snail. f no snails how about some shrimp?

another idea go out fishing and catch some bass and bluegill and such just for a normal american fish tank

thedaniokeeper Thats a pretty good idea oscars always appealed to me, but would it be able to live out its life in my tank? A tank of plecos would be equally awesome :D :D

Eiobio Thats a good idea except i would have trouble finding the fish. I might be able get my hands on some threadfins, but i more or less looked for queen arabesques since i was in the womb and have yet to find one :(.

fickle That is another great idea. And definitely the cheapest, but aren't bass hard to keep in an aquarium?

This is fine. None will ever eat snails and adult shrimps but young shrimps, the threadfin rainbows will be more than happy to clear them up for you.

Community fish is ur best bet because ur on a short bugget. I have an irredescent shark thats pretty cheap/cool and can grow very large if u decide to upgrade your tank in the future.

I've made it this far in my plans.

What about i keep the scape a bit the same except remove the stacked rocks, add 3 or so vals (for depth and correct me if i'm wrong they should be fairly cheap), get some wood from the lake near where i live, and stock with...

1 RTBS
a 6-8 school of Barbs (more boisterous the better cause they'll have to deal with the RTBS)
a cleanup crew of snails
and from there i don't know. Would that fill the tank or is there room? Would it be within my $50 budget (i can weasel out maybe $20 if it's over)?

Any Suggestions? Criticism?

That setup sounds good to me...

You'd still have some wiggle room as far as stock and budget i'd imagine too.

I'm pretty confident in saying that would work. RTBS can be mean sometimes, but I think with that rockwork (even if you had to adjest it slightly) you will be fine.

Your tank would have lots of space open.
