How much do the electric blue jack dempseys cost? What could I do to make it less skittish if I get one?

If you want cichlids for a 55g i would suggest a pair of salvini. Beautiful fish with amazing colors.
So a pair of salvini and a pair of convicts and a pleco in a 55? Would that work? And any other suggestions? Doesnt have to be cichlids, I just want something predetory or unusual.
I wouldn't put two pairs unless you make sure that one pair is either both male or both female. Two breeding pairs in one 55 gallon tank would be a nightmare. I would go with 1 convict, 2 salvini and 3 silver dollars to draw your other fish out of hiding and make them feel comfortable. The Silver Dollars also have a low bioload. That would be an awesome 55 gallon tank!!!!!!
2 pairs will not work well for one of the two. You can do a single specimen of each species instead...or a single specimen of a larger species like a Texas
