I'm hopeing to buiild a wooden cage for a tegu and thought if i'm goona take up all that room in my room i should get the most out of it and build a double cage so it will be roughly 6'x3'x28''-30'' tall tegu on bottom and boa/python on top

So what would you get ? i really like red tails boas but since they will get around 8 feet they are probably to big i was thinking rainbow boa not sure which species i've heard some get 2'-3' and others get close to 6' i would like one of those but don't know how common they are

So any suggestions please tell me and i don't really care for ball pythons no offence to any ball python lover i just wan't somethin a little less common

I wouldn't mind a piebald ball python though :D

Brazilian rainbow boa... just be careful with keeping the temps correct and it humid enough. If your first snake maybe not best choice though.

i've kept snakes before ;)

Cage will be mostly sealed and wood will be treated so humidity shouldn't be a problem

Also is polyurethane safe to use on snake and lizard cages to treat the wood so its water proof will be dry of course before adding tegu/boa or am i suppose to use another product all the plans for building cages just say make sure wood is water proof but don't say what they used

i found the rainwbow boa is a really good idea it's rare and beautyful speciment but get the brazilian cause it keep is color. The colombian become brown when it's mature.

The green python is wonderfull too but much expensive.

lookin like rainbow then mabye a blood there pretty cool really i got to go to my LRS and see what i can get

A LFS/LRS has a green boa but there pretty in active like to climb so i high cage would be needed right also i've heard form a lot of people that there not a snake to handle ( painfull bite and do it often ) but other wise a VERY cool snake we'll look totally cool any way

One more thing Other then rats and such what would be a good food for an adult boa i've read that small rabbits can be used but have no idea where to get them we'll cheap any way and i don't really wan't to catch the little ones in my front yard ( parasite plus possibly illegal to trap them ) i would have to get frozen ones to not feal bad such cute little things when young atleast plus its best to feed them frozen foods

I would go with the bloods they are amazing. It was my first python I had and I havent looked back it has a great tempermant hasnt even tried to bite me once. And you get the big snake look without the actual size. And they never need to eat anything bigger then rats. I have also heard carpets are pretty nice. With the rainbows I have hed experience with they seem to be a little nippy but I dont know if that was just the individuals of mine. And the green boas do have a pretty nasty bite.

now i can't decide

Carpet ( really like the look of jaguar carpets ) rainbows ( for there color ) or bloods ( cool lookin snake real fatties to :) )

Also could you add the max sizes i all ways thought that carpets got pretty long
