Celestial pearl danios, some badis badis and possibly some other small loach species could be quite interesting with plants...

If you intend to sell the plants, loaches are a good idea, as they eat snails that might crop up.

Thanks for the suggestions, but a few things...1. don't want to go brackish, don't need the hassle of extra water parameters....wanna stay simple....2. don't want Africans, they're just not my thing....The reason I was thinking about Buenos Aires tetras is after they grow out I am hoping to include them as dithers in my 300 that im building for sevs. some geos, keyholes, acaras and maybe chocolates.....I never had problems with anything eating or ripping up Anubis, so that's a plant I want to include in my 300.....This tank (72x12x12) is my learning experience with constructing an acrylic tank, so I can feel confident when I start my 300 construction...I have almost all my panels cut for the 300, but am still researching the correct hole size and dimensions for my overflow, so im still waiting to cut the back panel

Heres a good idea
Cheap rocks? You can get it at a landscaping warehouse, for fish i would go simple like neon tetras, you can also go rasboras.

A ton of dwarf/chain loaches and some smaller danios/barbs/rasboras would look sick
