You want a drain in the floor in case you overflow or in case a tank breaks. Along that line of thought, tile or bare concrete floor- you don't want a carpet soaked in fish water.

The lady at Edsal told me that Home Depot can special order anything that is in Edsal's catalogue. They are really sturdy and will save you the time and expense of overbuilding stands.
