if you like the red devil/midas look then you could do an Amphilophus xiloaensis....the white male in my avatar is 11" TL and I doubt he's going to get much bigger. I got him in Feb 09 at around 2".

How interactive would a big male Geo. brasiliensis be ? Seems to fit the bill in many other ways.
A Lyonsi could be a great option. They look like a Trimac lite, stay within the range you specified and still exibit all the charicteristics of the Amphilophus we love.
OK, interesting. Something like a character cross between a Geo.brasiliensis and a midevil ??
Male lyonsi have been known to hit the 12" mark when full grown. I agree it would be a great wet pet in a 75, just stating because you asked for a fish that topped out around 8"-10".

Nah... I saw a wild caught 3 years old female that measured 8" and the owner told me she had stopped growing long ago... And I think balton777 has a male that topped out at 12". Online profiles aren't as reliable as you think.
Also festae grow so slow that it might take them years to outgrow a tank, you would have plenty of time to upgrade if you needed to (which I doubt).
