I believe there is a system called a deionized water filtration system that hooks up to your faulcet and knocks out all unwanted things in the tank water, PH comes out at 5.8, this system is mostly for discus, but the water is so damn pure that you will need to add the electrolytes amd PH to get the water to your demands. I've never heard of crushed coral either, but if it works, then it works. But I prefer my PH around 6.4-6.8, water temp at 86-88 when pbass are small. Feed bloodworms, mosquitoe larvae feeder guppies while babies, and some type of water movement for the surface to get the frozen foods to look like their alive from all of the water movement. Deisel is the man so listen to his advice especially.

is that the name of it Boosten? Let me ask you something, do you have one, and is it safe to add the water that came directly through that system without adding anything?
i dont have one ....sadly i should since i have a sps reef tank and it would of payed off for its self from all the money i spent on top off... its just water nothing else... it take out all the chemicals and minerals... i would add some form of nutrients back into the water since it cleans everything out depending on how new your filters are... such as trace elements or black water... i dont know about it coming out as low at 5.8 but maybe 6.5- 6.8 its good because it softens your water without salt( which is bad for soft water fish) and it also takes out nitrates and phosphates along with alot of other stuff that are in the water... if you do add it staright i would have peat in my tank
there is a product made for discus that adds trace elemnts to water that works good for p-bass in my experience

yup... black water, home made peat extract, kordan trace elements, and kent discus essentials are all good to add trace into the water.. most people dont add anything and from my experience i notice the differnce
