While I am waiting for my tank to arive I have been tinking of some aquascaping. My design that I am foinf to go with is a large center piece with three archways ataching to the center piece at different hieghts on the main tower. The tank is a 200 gallon pentagn corner and my main concern is the rock falling over and damaging the tank. How do you guys mount your rock formation? Keep in mind that I will have a coral catshark in the tank. I have been dong some reading and haven't found anything good. The only one that seemed appealing to me was the drilling of the rock and inserting acrylic rods into them, but I need more info and will this be able to stand against a shark? Thanks in advance for any input.

Have you considered epoxy? The kind that comes in two tubes that is meant to be waterproof. It gets really really hard and strong when dry. It sticks them together really well. I have never done it myself since all my tanks are small and there is no need. I have heard and seen other people use it.

I'd go with drilling or making a PVC frame, and attaching rock to it. Arches are not a simple construction at all. Here's one based on an acrylic frame.

Awesome, I'll try it that way. I wasn't think of as huge as an arch as this one, but same concept of three smaller archsconnecting to a tower in the center of a triangle, because I was to use as minimal rock as possible while using as much surface area and circulation around the rocks as possible to icrease efficiency of biological filtration. Thanks for the info

Also, if you use pvc's and rock work, one thing I do for more elaborate designs, is mount them to an acrylic base, which gets covered in sand so you never see it, but it provides a solid base.

if you pm yogi he knows a site that talks about making your own rock from concrete.. it's pretty ineresting...
