the air curtain i got with my tank setup (second hand) releases different amounts of air and differents areas of the tube, i have little coming out the middle but loads of bubbles coming out at the ends. can i fix this or is this the way air curtains are ?

what can i perhaps replace this with that will creat lots of bubbles but wont make a lot of noise, i have tried various airstones in the past that can release mega bubbles but they are very noisy, the thing i like about the curtain is the bubbles are a bit more gentle and are fairly quiet.

any suggestions guys ;)

a powerhead.

i have 2 powerheads and although they are capable of producing loads of bubbles i find them noisy too, the tank is in my living room so i want the noise kept to a minimum

I've had that exact wand (36") in my tank for 9 months now and it still performs like the day I put it in. I do keep my nitrates pretty low though.

I would think you need a more powerful airpump for your curtian. It seems as though you don't have enough psi to push the air all the way though the curtain

all you need is surface aggitation. i dont use bubblers in any of my tanks. i just have a bit of surface aggitation from the filters. and its noise free!

yes no suction cups needed and i have even bubbles all the way across mine its 48" run by a whisper air pump.

thanks for the replies, how much surface aggitation is required in an overstocked 57g african tank, i have 2 powerheads which i keep well below the surface and just use the air curtain for surface aggitation.

does the air bubble actually put oxygen into the water or does that only happen with the water aggitation on the surface caused by buble or filter flow ?
