My black Aro has jumped to his doom
I found him about 7 feet away from his tank on sunday morning....I feel like I lost a relative...lol...He graced our lives for about 4 years...I will miss him...

Jen :(

Ya know what upsets me the most about him jumping to his death  , is I had "clips" on the glass tops...I had made them myself with velcro and some fabric....How he managed to "pop" one up is a mystry...I mean he even took the handle of the lid off....He really must have wanted to get out of the tank! There must have been a good quart of water all over the place....
But, I now have an "empty" 125gal tank....The only inhabitants in there now are 2 bichirs and 2 plecos....We are thinking of raising a school of scats! Green, Red, and silver...2 of each...Or I may just try Discus...How hard are they to rear? Or if anyone has any ideas...My Boyfriend does not want anything that gets really big anymore...I would love to get another Blk Aro...but ya know...the risk of another jumper....
Thanks for the kind words!!!
Jen :(

Sorry to hear about your loss. I would be burnt aswell after 4yrs

Sorry about your aro.

There are small stainless steel latches available at glass shops that look a bit like a hinge but lock closed, they are discreet and cheap and can be epoxied to the tank. I used them for eels after one shoved a couple bricks off the tank lid. They will not pop open.

I think you should get another Aro whether a black, silver or jardini. but I can understand if you waited, I remember when I lost mine I didnt even look at them in Lfs for awhile. But just "saved" a small silver Aro from Petco.
