i work in a LFS and i've really taken to the catfish. I keep new world cichlids in a 125 gallon tank and africans (soon to be my peaceful new worlds) in a 55 gallon, and i was hoping to find a suitable catfish for the 125. when i say suitable, i mean, i love the tiger shovelnose but i know full well i can't keep a fish that big in my tank. something that won't get bigger than 10 inches that isn't weird looking (i really like pictus cats, but was hoping for something maybe a TAD LARGER than 5 inches?

any ideas??

any synodontis cats would work great

Some of the smaller talking vatfish like the raphael cats would work. But you probably won't see them and they might fall under weird.

Sun catfish could work.

lima shovel nose. Unlike tigers and rtc they will stunt growth. it will get about a foot or foot and a half in that tank. But will eat any thing much smaller than it!!

The Sun cat Horabagrus brachysoma or the Brown Bullhead Amerius Nebulosus can live with S/A cichlids and wont outgrow a 125g.

i went with spotted pims....reason? some really dumb guy came in and had a THREE GALLON tank, that he hadn't set up yet, he didn't buy a filter, or dechlor, and he wanted the fish in the tank immediately, so i said they were already sold, and wrote my name next to them on the tank.

...ive been 'saving' a lot of fish lately. this is going to be trouble. (new tanks? yep)
