Dont worry about any tank mates until you upgrade. Your 5x overstocked already. If your tank is 4ft long, I assume its a 48x18x24. Hence 90 gallon tank, isnt even big enough for 1 pbass.

But in answer to your question, yes a knifefish will do fine with with pbass. Mine completely ignore eachother except for the odd spook at night when the knifefish is most active and pbass are trying to sleep.
