Dude he said a GREEN SHADE in the urine! And untill a bit ago nobody was saying anything about shells which by the way its normal shape.
Normal tortoise urine has a liquid part which sould be translucide and solid urates which sould be preferably white or yellow. If there is green in it, one way or another something is wrong with the animal. The cases Ive seen with this simptons were all related to bile in the urine due to extra macronutrients in the food (specially proteins). The cure for it you already know. And one more thing: we cant compare the metods you use sucessfully with your tortoises in FLORIDA on a outdoor space with all the warmth and sun shine in the world they could possibly want, with the conditions of a hobbist with a indoor pet far north. The conditions you use are idilic which gives you a edge to manuver their diets most people dont have. I bet they would do great there if you fed them allot of for example normal grocery vegetables, even stuff like letuce all the time. But most persons tortoises in diferent circunstances would get stuff like dierria and lack of yodine if they tryed to do the same (this of corse talking about grazer species like sulcatas). In less then so prefect circunstances people have to try harder to provide the rigth foods for their pets.
Its just the same thing with iguanas, just a few weeks back a girl here lost her pet iguana because she was using mainly zoomed iguana diet with a few vegetables. The iguana was very deshidrated and weak, even to a water bowl was provided all the time and she had a good uv ligth. The temperatures provided were good as well.
However I do know zoomed iguana diet is a normal staple for people in Florida with all kinds of igs to use. The conditions allow this form of providing food because the animals are outdoors in tropical climate which allows the perfect metabolizing and use of food. Did the iguana didnt learn to drink water? I dont know, what I know all the people here with old iguanas only feed them vegetables and only a litle (if any) dry food. I could metion to you many cases very similar. One way or another igs that receive this kind of nurishment in a major way in their diet here endup with metabolic issues. However I see people in Florida and California with owesame old igs and feeding dryfoods by the bugget full. I think the outdoor envoirement gives those people the edge to do so. Guys in colder climates simply have to work harder. By the way unless you have a herd of sulcatas it is not that hard to get them natural foods. This is still a young one, it is not to late to start planting some mulberry trees, grape vines and contacting supermarkets for their finest vegetable scraps :)

Ummmmm........Poop can be green.......Especially if its been trampled over and drug around, and I've never met a Tortoise that didn't take an opportunity to crap in a water bowl.......

Husbandry can be duplicated no matter where your at.......Doesn't matter if your in Florida or Alaska.....Heat and humidity is just that.......Diet is pretty simple......I'd rather start with a diet that is nutritionally whole, than start off with a supermarket diet that is in the negative.......Been doing that for awhile.....

Vegetable scraps? Nobody sells or gives away scraps because of food borne disease liability........I've signed contracts/agreements with a few different places and not one has delivered.......

Coura, I took a lot of your advice, went out got the UVb Bulb, Timothy Hay, Alfalfa and the Mustard, Romaine and Collard greens. But I did however say the Water would turn green. Not his urine. His urine is always clear with a Milky white part.

I agree with that. There is 2 things here however I find fishy with that teory: first he saying he needs to change water several times a day, I mean all the healty sulcatas Ive come into contact with, only actually poop (not urine) at max like every other day and you see a big pile of dung and that is the other thing, he would see a big thurd in the water bowl. If this is feces and not urine, then your turtle has dierria. Now that is something I can beleave. If that would be the case your tortoise needs to eat dry stuff like thimoty hay to make its bowls work slower.

I not saying it cant under some circunstances but once again you have a edge that allows you to do stuff I wouldnt here :) BUT mazuri is indeed a VERY good brand. I wouldnt feed any of my animals a "multicolored" brand of food, that is all unnedeed collorants (shure hope they have natural origin).

Well I cant comment on that but I do know its a way people with large species of herbivorous reptiles is able to fullfill part of their pets demmands. I see here stuff going to waste that is perfectly fine!

Hummmmm...that likely means your tortoise could have dierria, but it can still be bile. If you can take your toise to see a vet that would be great. If its dierria that is simple to treat with dry fiber rich foods. I would let your toise starve for a few days with only hay and water available, to allow her organism to recover by it self. See if the green stuff stops, sometimes a few days of no food are great. Then if you see improvements go very easy on the vegetables inicially. Avoid letuce, even romaine for now, it makes the intestines work faster.

Theirs no way that the Tort is urinating or defecating in his water. He's not capable of getting his rear end into the bowl.

On a side note Water made it 30 hours and was clear when I changed it. Tort pooped and it was firm and dark in color. The Timothy Hay and Alfalfa seem to be a hit.

Huh?! Why didnt you told me that before!? However if you are seeing improvements its likely that somehow he is able to do it, otherwise it would make no sence unless he vomited which is rare on toises.

I said I thought it was from his Mouth, or front feet. You came up with Bile and Intestinal problems. I thought you were on to something. lol. I personally think that since he's nasty and eats his own poop on most occasions before I can get to it. Or that he walks through it before I can get to it that he's basically just rinsing something off his feet or mouth into the water bowl and it grows do to the light being over the enclosure.

And I was, but bile can only come out in tortoises as well as humans by their anus, I had no clue of the new info your telling me about, you told us that you saw green in the water and no vet knew what to do, all the toise keepers I know have water dishes that allow their toises to soak. And green made no sence with the color of foods you were using, the only thing I know with that kind of simptons is gastrointestinal disorders and bad ones by that matter. And if you were only using one stuff on the diet its not hard to understand what the culprid would be:duh::duh: Well Im however GLAD that its something way less serious then what I though it was :) By the way, Ive been doing allot of reserch because this theme interests me and Ive been hearing nothing but good stuff about mazuri. Besides what you have already done you may want to ad it as well to the diet and rotate between it and greens and hay in the future.
