Hi I was wondering if I can put rare plecos into my pond in the summer. I live in California so in the summer it hits high 90's to 105*F. At night its about 70*F - 80*F. Are rare plecos less hardy than sailfins and regular plecos? What I mean by rare pleco's im talking about royals, vampires, blue and green phantom plecos.

The air temperature may hit 105 but I don't think the pond will get that warm, not if it is sufficiently large.

I think the pond may only reach the high 80s, if that, and as long as 100 degree weather doesn't persist for more than a week or so.

I honestly wouldn't risk it... the plecos in your tanks are probably used to a pretty stable temperature, with minor fluctuations.

Kinda risky. They are too expensive to test out in my book, and yes as was said they are a lot more docile. Commons and sailfins are as close to bulletproof as you can get in a pleco.

Let me set this straight. It doesn't get that hot in the pond water lol. The AIR temperature is 95-105. The water temp might be in the mid 70's.

Also, there's the wildlife that might snack on them- herons, racoons, cats, etc.

I dont have and never had that problem before. My pond is 3 feet deep.
