I was thinking I would use my 125 as a sump for my ~300 tank and then I thought, hey, why not make it a 2nd display tank? I could keep some discus or tetras or something else down there! I was wondering if anyone had ever seen or done anything like this so I drew up a picture in about 20 seconds to see what it may look like.

I would have a large heavily planted area (nitrate control) and a tower area with mech, and bio filtration, and then a pump section. Cabinet doors would cover the equipment sections leaving the planted area as a tank under my large aquarium. I would also be running my canister filters so I don’t think lack of media would be a problem.

I already have a mini version of this on my 125 using my smaller sump but I do not have it set up as a display, just a planted sump with some ghost shrimp.

What do you think? Impossible? Stupid? Amazing?

i think that would be quite awesome

Nice Arowana! I thought about this before It should work if both tanks are not super stocked. But I think you need at least half the tank for bio.

hahahaha i love those pics

Even if I was running an FX5 or one of the big ehiems in addition?
Well depends what you stock is if it's only 2 fish on top and 2 on the bottom sure no problem.:grinno:

I think it would be very cool, but the fish will add to the filtered water, detritus, and then that would get pumped right into the main tank, soooooo.......you would need to filter the water again before pumping it back into the main tank.
Don't forget the added lighting and the added maintenance of another tank...
Still think it would be cool.
Just my 2¢.

Dude that arowana looks stunted, get him a bigger sheet of paper ASAP.

ya, u can do that, ive seen a friend do something like that, but not as neat as your picture lol.

p.s. those pictures are great lol
